Multiple people have posted on the forum asking for a like button. There are like plugins for this forum, some of which connect to Facebook and some that don't, and that is fine and good. However when I set up this site I took advantage of a more powerful addon called YAGA, short for: Yet Another Gaming Application. This addon allows users to respond to posts in any manner we deem valid and comes with a set of reactions for which I didn't even feel the need to expand on.

How do you use this system? Its simple. Hover your cursor over a post that isn't yours and the reactions appear underneath, like so:

Next to the quote option you can see: Promote, Insightful, Awesome, LOL, WTF, and Spam. When you click one of these you'll be recorded as responding to the post that way. Additionally, a small icon will appear under the post noting your reaction.

Part of the reason I say this is more powerful is that the system offers a way to read the forum based on reactions. You can find this on the left sidebar, by clicking Best Of... under Categories. This takes you to a set of pages that let you see the most promoted, most insightful, etc posts as recorded by the reaction system,

I know it's not speaker related, but I'm calling on my friends.
Awhile back I screwed up big time. My laptop failed and I lost basically everything from about two years ago. Stupid me never backed anything up. The main loss is my music, as in my personality made music. All my current life's work. It's the hardest loss I've had to deal with other than lives.

It's an M.2 Nmve SSD drive. I've looked into the recovery businesses and watch/read countless info on it. From my inspection it's the VRAM chip that's done. I wish it was just a simple shorted cap, but that chip gets hot, and a few caps measure 280 ohms connecting to it. My experience, when caps short, they get hot, when it's the IC, it gets hot. So I know if one of these companies looks at it, it'll probably be on the high side of the scale cost wise, if it's even salvageable.

My question is, has anyone done this sorta thing? What's your all's experience with this? Any trusted insights? I'm kinda at the point of biting the bullet and paying whatever it takes to have my music back. It's so fucking depressing to not have it.

My car’s system integrates various features like steering wheel controls and a backup camera, and I’ve heard that cars with CAN bus systems can be quite tricky when adding aftermarket components.

I’m also exploring the possibility of using eFPGA to help with signal processing and maintaining the functionality of these factory features. Has anyone here tried using eFPGA for similar car audio installations? Specifically, I’m curious about:

How effective eFPGA is in preserving factory features like steering wheel controls and backup cameras during aftermarket installs.
What eFPGA setups or solutions have worked well for you in handling complex vehicle wiring systems?
Are there particular vehicles that present more challenges when using eFPGA in the installation process?
Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I've been using and enjoying this Forum for a few years, but for the past two weeks I keep getting a message from my Kaspersky Anti-Virus that this site's certificate 'isn't valid' and it keeps bouncing me around various dialog boxes saying the site is 'untrustworthy'.

I'm sure that's not the case, so I click 'continue anyway' and usually that works. This morning for some reason it kept going around in circles, leading to many swear words. The messages kept appearing when I tried to reply to messages or post something in a thread.

Anyone else have the same problem, please? There's no provision in the anti-virus program to say 'trust this site'

Thank you

Listening to the smaller drivers, the music seems like it is coming from 4 feet away (Left/right) from the actual driver than the 10" coaxials.

Hi Everyone,

Tagging @Archer60x and @dcibel as I know you guys use SE, but anyone feel free to help! I'm looking for some help measuring impedance curves with SoundEasy. I'm getting my feet wet here... I picked up V24 off the door prize table at InDIYana this year and paid to upgrade to V26/V27. I built a measurement jig following instructions from the Audio Judgement web page (https://audiojudgement.com/soundeasy-measurement-box-build-guide/), so now I'm trying to measure impedance on a Wavecor SW275BD02 driver. Something isn't going well though... the impedance signal I am measuring is flat out wrong. I know the driver is OK because I get exactly the same impedance curve when I measure the driver using DATS V2. SoundEasy is not showing me the 100 ohm Fs of the subwoofer near 30 Hz, and claims a rapid rise to >180 ohms after 2kHz, before dropping off at 20kHz. Has anyone seen something like this measurement result and know what to double check? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

My measurement system:
Dell XPS 9370 running windows 10 (latest)
- Allen Heath drivers installed
- All "audio enhancements" in windows disabled
- Inputs / Outputs set to 24 bit / 48 kHz sample rate

Allen Heath ZEDi10 mixer used as a USB interface/soundcard (24/192)
- Sending SoundEasy MLS signals out to the mixer via USB
- Sending RCA output signal Left channel only to the amp
- Returning Reference Probe (#1) via XLR to mic channel 1 on mixer (panned hard L)
- Returning Input Probe (#2) via XLR to mic channel 2 on mixer (panned hard R)
- USB return signal to PC/SoundEasy

Measurment Amp
- Hypex Ncore NC502mp (one channel only)

Homemade measurement jig
- 10 ohm resistor for impedance calibration
- 18uF capacitor for tweeter-only SPL/FRD measurement
- 22kOhm and 47kOhm resistors used as sensor probe voltage divider networks.

Things I've tried so far
- Confirmed I have the USB inputs/outputs correct (I think I do)
- Quadruple checked my jig for mistakes (I think I'm good)
- Used the O-scope function to measure 1khz sine sweep into a 4 ohm resistor (both probe signals looked correct to me)
- Did a loop-back test to confirm I don't have latency issues with my soundcard (no problems there)
- Switched my probes just to try it and see if any difference was made (negatory).

So... I'm currently out of ideas! I'd like to think my audio interface is OK. It'll cost me somewhere around $100 - $150 to buy a different interface, but that doesn't seem like it's the most obvious problem. Any other thoughts are apprecaited.

Thanks,
Keith

Figured if he had a frequency sweep done he'd have a better understanding of what he might look for in a replacement.

As a lot of new people are trickling in, I think its time to talk a bit about the state of this forum. The software we are using is an open-source free forum software called Vanilla. It has several neat features, is very programmable/extendable (why I chose it actually), and some issues. Seems one can't get the good without the bad in modern technology these days, but what can you do? I'm going to explain some features below, and then also describe known bugs I am working on. I'll close out with stuff that I'm actively working on but you won't see for a while. Feel free to chime in on this thread if you have ideas for things you'd like to see on the forum, or additional issues you might encounter.

// Features //

YAGA: This is a plugin for the forum that means: Yet Another Gamification Application. Essentially it lets everyone add reactions to others posts they read, and issues out badges to user for various milestones. It also provides a link on the left panel that tallies up the most active posts in these regards. Its not a big feature, but I think it helps enhance the sense of community.

Enhanced Private Messaging: The private messaging on this forum allows multiple people to be involved, so you can kind of have a side-chat with several people without starting a new thread for all to see.

HTML editor: The editor for posts is HTML, and WYSIWYG (mostly). This simplifies things, but can sometimes create issues if you try and cut a post from another forum and paste it in here. It can support BBcode or Markdown, but that is not how I have it configured. The advantage of HTML is that you can drag and drop images onto posts, etc. The editor is simply more powerful in that mode.

Responsive Theme: The theme is truly responsive and as such you don't need a special client to use it on your phone. Just loading the page on a mobile device works fine (at least on all devices I've tested).

// Issues //

Attachments: For some unknown reason, the attachment upload is eating everything that isn't an image. I'm working on it, but I haven't been able to get any input from the Vanilla community so that means I have to basically create a new blank test forum, start adding stuff, and see what breaks the upload. So its going to be a bit on that. The strange thing is that the uploads work, but for some reason they never get attached to the posts.

Theme Glitches: Since this site isn't secured, I'm having some issues with Chrome overriding theme settings to "protect the end-user". It seems if an unsecured page asks for a password (when you login for example) Chrome won't allow text color changes. This is why your login field text may appear black instead of normal white.

User Themes: Vanilla was not built to support this feature, but I've gotten a few questions about alternate brighter themes. I'd like to have that option open to people. Right now you can click Snow or Slate on the left panel to change the theme, but that isn't perfect and everything isn't applied as I'd like. Eventually I'll write a plugin to allow each user to select their own theme and I'll offer several colors.

// Future //

Chat: There is no real-time chat at the moment. I had setup a Rumbletalk chat, which was nice, but was barely used and a monthly expense to boot. So I took that down, and I'm planning on something else. I'll likely setup a Discord channel and link on the left panel in its place for now and see what people think of that. Its a good client, is free, and runs on just about any platforms (even inside a web browser).

Archiving: Next year archiving will begin. Essentially that meant posts older than one year will be dumped into an archive and no longer a burden to the forum database. Once that starts (using an automated system), on the first of each month posts from that month a year ago will enter the archive. They will still be viewable and searchable, etc. But unable to edit in any way at all, and can't be commented on. Of course you can link to them in new posts.

FRD Rendering: I've been working slowly on this for a while, but I have some code written now that will allow one to view an FRD file on the forum. This means if you just attach an FRD to a post (see issues above, ugh), you'll get a link that you can click to open it in a pop-up window and view it. I don't expect to have this ready and well tested till next year though.

That is a short synopsis. If you have an comments or questions, fire away!

They are highlighted in yellow and I'd like to only have threads I'm interested in or actively involved in be highlighted. It struck me that the sink option might be derogatory to the original poster which certainly isn't my intention.

Thanks Jason!

Jim

As of April I had to move the forum software to a new version (2.5.1) for security fixes. This has created additional issues that need resolved. I'm posting this thread to document them and the progress in addressing them so everyone knows what is going on. The top three bugs:

BetterNotifications stopped working. This plugin upgrades the email notification system so that only one email is sent when a thread is acted upon, instead of one email per comment. It will not email again until you read the thread.

Link targets changed/not working. Links should open in a new tab/window.

Theme style/color. This is an ongoing fix, I still want to increase the font size some on desktop and need to tweak colors.

Uploading non-images is broke. I still don't know what is going on. I created a test forum with the same version of vanilla, same configuration, etc etc. and that all works but this forum doesn't. In progress.

Mobile theme sucks. The mobile theme is back to default. I'll need to make my own. I'll do this once the desktop theme is complete.

I think that is all the obvious stuff. Feel free to comment below and I'll add more as I see fit.
