Yesterday I picked up an antique phonograph that was unfortunately missing the phonograph (though it surely would have been beyond my budget had it been present).
The cabinet is in overall good condition so I am thinking of converting the whole unit into more modern components. This is a stand alone unit, no amp, no power. So I will be adding all. Preamp, amp, turntable.
My first query is if anyone has used or heard one of the newer turntables with the USB connection. How do they sound? Etc?

YMMV, it was several tracks a/b where I was blind to knowing which was playing, the rip or the phono. Maybe you will have better luck.
The unit still has a ton of potential though and will make a nice addition to my cave even if it ends up as just an amp rack!
