Heads up - BZ Labs CQ-76B for sale

Comments

  • These things seem really odd.  How do they sound?
  • this one seems to reach really low - stable XO point of 1000 hz.... don't really have any application for it, unless XO to a 12" or 15" mid.
  • The CQ76 with the yellow rival drivers by Curt sounded good - think it was in South Dakota? but that is smaller brother, still stated for a stable XO point of 1500, pretty good compared to other mainstream ribbons unless you are going uber expensive RAAL.

@Gowa do you still have those speakers?
  • But it's not really a ribbon ... is it.?
  • It is kind of a voice-coil hybrid design. Have you seen their woofers? Even more strange.... I've not heard one of either yet, and they've been too expensive to try thus far for me.
  • $240 per pair new is expensive?
  • It is when lots of my build have drivers that one channel or both cost less than that. I'm not saying it is an expensive price compared to normal, but I am saying it is expensive as a general driver cost.

Tests extremely well for a ribbon, IMO. I guess it's more of a flat cone, flat voice coil tweeter that resembles a ribbon though.

I'm not deaf, I'm just not listening.

I heard Curt's MTM's at SD DIY.  They sounded really good.  I didn't care for how the woofers looked, but they sounded good.

Yeah, that's kind of what it looks like to me.
