Not include on this site is a vacuum bag closure. I made mine from CPVC found at Menards
Hi John, what pump do you use and what are the pipe sizes? How many degrees dud you cut to be able to insert the whole pipe?
GTK. I am about to redo my vacuum press.
How durable is the film in comparison to other bag makers?
Thanks.
Is off-the-shelf polyethylene vapour barrier plastic no good for this?
The composite vacuum bag material is designed to be flexible and very durable for vacuum autoclave composites. I've been using this material for only a year and have been surprised how durable it has been. I used some cheaper vinyl bags in the past and they were junk in comparison. You might be able to bag some flat pieces with vapor barrier material but I think it's better to be able to see through the bag.
I've also been using breather fabric and platens so I might not be stressing the bags as much as others.

The pricing is right compared to spending $100 for smaller bags.
Ani the pipe is 1/2 and 3/4 inch. I guess at the opening then cut the 3/4 inch then scraped and sanded the edges for to fit over the 1/2 inch pipe plus the bag.
I'm using a commercial vacuum pump because I got it cheap from my work. Amazon has some highly rated ones for $100
