My nephew just bought a 2005 Chevy regular cab. He would like a sound system in it. He is on a limited budget like most high school students.
Surprisingly, I don't have many woofers that would work well in a small sealed box. In my current stash these buyout 4x6 might be the best option.
1 cf is the max we can fit.
What are your thoughts? Is this a lost cause? Should I just buy a GRS subwoofer?
Comments
The 8" HE GRS would be just fine, and not sure exactly how tight his budget is but it is only $50.
For that matter the cheap 8" poly will work well in one sealed cubic foot.
This might work.

All are good suggestions above.
If going with the 4x6 pair, oppose them.

Uncle Ken should gift said nephew with something special
Just got back from vacation my fun money is gone for a little while. He will need to be happy with my leftovers. Thankfully I do have a set of coax door speakers and a few amplifiers. As long as he can get himself a head unit and a Amp kit he should be all set.
Wow! That is a generous offer. I have an amplifier already and the MTX 5500 has been a solid performer for decades but its too deep for a truck box.
I do have a pair of sd215a-88. I will probably use one of those and abandon the 4x6s. That 8 should do pretty well in a single cab.
