Found them for about $210/pr shipped from AliExpress. Probably same motor as the 7500 that PE sells, which is a good thing. These should be easier to integrate due to the acoustic center being farther back on baffle. I'll see what's up, been eyeballing them for awhile.

I'd seen those a while back too, Looking forward to your findings, JR.
Hope they are a Volt killer . . .
I doubt they a Volt killer, but I bet they are 90% there. The 7500 has distortion in its passband that is below my noise floor, I expect similar from these.
I can't find anything under $300/pr shipped on Ali - got a link for a fellow audio-junkie/speaker tragic?
I just found this on AliExpress:
$193.98 | Pair of HIVI HIVIRESERCH DM7600 hiend pure midrange speaker neodynium

Hivi make the drivers for Swan.

Indeed they do.
Nice looking dome mid.
I still need to measure the Dynaudio//Volvo 3" dome mids I have. I vaguely remember doing a quick scan back when I got them and the FR looking good, but really need to check distortion.
Tried to buy some of those DM7600 mids, and found out that MeloDavid has blacklisted me. So maybe interesting to see how this plays out....
Maybe we should refer to them as "Vindictive-David" now, rjj?
(Doesn't seem so "Melo" to me . . .).
Yeah, no emnity. Something got effed up and they shipped an order to a very old address of mine. I am willing to move along. We shall see.
Hope you get it ironed-out, rjj.
Those things are over 6" in diameter so keep that in mind when planning a build . . .
Oh yeah, I have two tweeters in mind that will make it no worries on that aspect. Maybe three.
Fountek NeoCd3.5H Horn is my initial experiment when the time comes . . . Whatchagotcookin?
Seas DXT and SB Acoustics or SB Acoustics SB26STWGC-4 are two that have come to mind. My inkling is towards the SB. Also the little SB ring radiator SB29RDNC-C000-4 is a strong candidate due to its ability to cross very low and the small faceplate.
Kind of close to each other. Close enough for me, anyways.
Aluminum faceplate.
My pair arrive today. Dome does not appear to be sticky. DATS tests tonight.
My pair (not broken in) measure pretty identical. 319Hz Fs.
No stickiness.
I like these.
Bewbs
Connections will require some care. You can see the lead exit the body at the top of the spade, yet it is soldered to the bottom of the spade, right where I would usually solder the connection. Perhaps a modified spade terminal would work.
Fs = ~ 400Hz?
Specs:
Please post after break-in, guys - very interested in your findings . . .
My DATS showed 319Hz Fs before any break-in
I'll run a few sine waves through mine, see what's up.
Here is after a moderate break-in, Fs dropped to 330Hz or so:
I believe with further break-in I should be tickling 300Hz as the spec sheet indicates.
Also, these use the same motor and dome as the other Hii 3". Near as I can tell they are identical mounting as well. Since it is the same motor I am expecting similar performance. I could not measure distortion in the passband - it is lower than my noise floor.
The impedance blip around 850Hz is curious. It is on the spec sheet too, of course, but I wonder where it comes from, and whether it affects the FR or generation of harmonics/IMD...
On the other hand, a zoomed impedance trace with a max of only 20 ohms, with a logarithmic view is going to show all kinds of lumps and bumps... if you zoom in close enough, eventually everything becomes a wobbly line...
