Frozen coil resistance

If a coil was stuck in a motor and the cone had zero movement, wouldn't one assume that the resistance would change? I measured a driver and it measured perfect but upon later inspection the cone is frozen in position.

Am I missing something?

  • Impedance sure, DCR not at all. Electromechanical operation has nothing to do with the resistance of a length of wire.

I'm not deaf, I'm just not listening.
  • So when I used my multimeter, that was impedance, not DCR, correct? Turn the dial to the ohm section and select 200 for number of places.....

  • Your multimeter was measuring the DCR, not the impedance.

  • Gotcha, thanks gang!
