I assembled new cables today. I used these parts:

It has cotton in it - not just PET. Other odds and ends are a couple of zipties, some red and black heat shrink.
Final OD ended up around 18mm, which suits me just fine. The spades are very nicely built and looking.
Verdict:
87% fewer veils.
109% bigger soundstage.
38% increase in bass velocity
49% increase in soundstage depth
184% decrease in malingering electrons
65% blacker space
They also made me coffee, but that is the only knock against them - I don't like coffee.
Anyways, not a super cheap set of cables but they look like a million bucks so that is something.
