I don't understand Craig's response, nor do I understand the restate of the OP. The Halcyon is not a private design.

The design Dave Thomas posted back in 2012 is likely no slouch. However, I might move the series resistor out front and play with the value to minimize the impedance-phase swing.

I initially thought that tree'd was just another design using the SB17NRX2C35. Had to google Halcyon to find out that that was a Curt C. design. tree'd might be a good name for a speaker with a laid back type sound quality.
