I noticed the pricing on XT, DX, and BC tweeters at Madisound have finally made the expected price jump.

PE still has normal pricing, but lead times for most of the good ones are anywhere from 2 to 6 months - not sure how long they will honor current pricing.

Le sigh.

DX25TG5904 is still CAD$26.24 at Solen, with 9 left in stock. I imagine the price will go up once the current stock is out and they have to order a new batch, we'll see.
This is going away too. Clearance priced.

That looks really nice. Anyone heard/used them?
Thanks for the heads up JR. While I don't really need any more tweeters... I might order a pair or two before they price jump at PE too. The Beast Mode up $10 each!!!
I really strongly dislike the DQ series of Vifa tweeters. I feel they are junk and need thrown away.

Not sure if I've ever heard the DQ series. As far as you know Ben, have they been used in anything I might have heard at InDIYana or DIY Iowa?
Poor Man's Monitor in 2010, maybe. Not sure.
I used the DQ years ago with a 5.25" HDS. J Kim helped me with it on PETT. I still have them stowed away somewhere. The DQ is definitely the weak link in that design. I liked it's truncated cousin the BC25SC55 much better. I used that one with the same woofer for my brother and thought it sounded a little better.
Dunno, Craig. Zaph, Moosespeaker, and maybe one more??

Seems like the DQ25SC16-04 was all the rage is some circles way back when. I also remember Wolf has never been a fan. This design may have materialized on a stage somewhere but I can't remember for certain. It is the tweeter used in the ZA5 kits.

Zaph was a fan of it which made it popular with his followers by proxy.
Hificompass measurements show nothing terrible with it, in fact quite good performance for a budget tweeter. It does fall apart in the lower frequencies at high volume, so if you like to crank it, minimum 2500Hz crossover is a good goal.

It just had this horrible 'broadband glare' (Rory's words for it) issue that I could not stand. It makes it sound broken, cheap, and just plain garbage. I welcome its demise.

I may be insufficiently critical, but I have one in Zaph's ZA5 center channel from Madisound, and I found it unobjectionable. The midrange is definitely the star of the show; Zaph's driver is really sweet-sounding and detailed as a mid. But the tweeter never jumped out at me as problematic, and had a fair amount of detail. Not as good as a 27tbfg or in the same league as a da25tx, but for the money, rather good. I prefer it to the dc26nc small flange vifa tweeter I have in another similar mtm, but obviously, crossover is different, so hard to say how much is that. YMMV
Yes to both. I found it fairly straightforward to use and pleasant to listen to. I also liked it in Jeff's NCDIY kit.
Forgot about the NorCal project, but i never got to hear them either; Jeff's or my simmed xover.

I hadn't known that at the time, otherwise I would have brought them with to Chi-town instead of the Iron Driver project.
