It's cold outside today, and to be honest, I'm lacking construction ambition so I decided to sit down and measure some caps. After a quick perusal of my parts stash, went with 2.2uf value . What I have on hand is a Dayton mkp, Clarity cap, Audyn true copper, Audyn plus, BP electrolytic, Jantzen cross cap, Rival polar cap, and a Solen mkp. I wish that I could have measured an Audyn q4, a Jantzen silver or superior, and a Bennic, but I just don't currently have them in a 2.2uf. I used a GW Instek LCR-821 meter with 4 wire leads. Anyway here are the suspects, and I will list the data in the next post.

Well that came out like total shit. I had everything spaced into columns and the software ignored it. I'll repost later.
What a dumpster fire! lol
Based on your measurements the only standout is the NPE.
The thing that I found interesting is there is a general trend of better measurements with higher price. The very expensive Audyn true copper actually had the best measurements and the the Dayton and Jantzen had the worst of mkp caps. The electrolytic is obviously far below the others.
Solen only marginally better than the Dayton/CrossCap.

One other item of note is the weight difference, the Clarity cap and Audyn plus are each 29g, while the Audyn true copper has a weight of 124g. It really does use copper foil instead of aluminum.
The plus are bifilar wound too.

I have a pair of 1.0 and 0.56 in the Copper, as well as a 1.2 in the older Blue wrapper. Still need to buy a mate for it. That 2.2 must feel like a rock considering how the older one i have feels.

What happens if you bypass the NPE with a much smaller value PP cap? Does the composite then become competitive with the other 2.2 PP's (or not)? Just wondering.
I had no idea the Rival caps were that good. I should have bought more back when they had those special deals.
I ran a quick test of bypassing the electrolytic cap with mkp of .22uf, so 10%. The results changed at 1khz from 1.88 ohms to 1.56 ohms and d changed by roughly the same amount, so bypassing the electrolytic is not a magic bullet as some would have you believe.
Really shows how "upgrading" electrolytics to polys can ass things up. Especially when they don't always measure so close to the stated spec.
Nice job!
Thanks for the heads up. I have a pair of the original Large Advent Loudspeakers (1974) and a couple years ago I bought a pair of Audyn 16uF PP caps to replace the stock 16uF NPE caps that came with the speakers. I haven't put them in yet, but my plan has always been to simply snip out the NPE's and solder in the PP's. Looks like I need to re-think this. Looks like I need to measure the stock NPE's ESR and then add a resistor in series with the Audyn 16uF PP caps to compensate. Otherwise, I'll screw up the original crossover frequency.
