RIP Jeff Beck

The Yardbirds were one of the bands I grew up listening to. The band featured several guitar legends over the short time they were together. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck were all members. I had the good fortune to hear them with Beck and Page together in the late 60's They each had a pair of VOX Super Beatle amps and they were amazing.

Beck was a true pioneer.

  • News said sudden bacterial meningitis case took him.

  • He was sooo much better than Eric Clapton.

  • Very sad to hear . Rest well Mr.Beck

  • Sad to hear of this. One of the few people I would bother to go and see live.
I bring his music/guitar playing up to people who have not listened to it. I can't believe there are people who do not know who Jeff Beck is but know of Clapton and Page. I think Beck is a much better song writer, artist, and performer. Much more interesting music for sure.

  • Terrible news. He was still a great performer. Making a six-string w/whammy bar sound like a slide or pedal steel guitar:

  • Very sad indeed: a great but modest player with a truly unique sound.

There's a great video of him performing at Ronnie Scotts Club, with various guests including Clapton, of whom Jeff says "I might as well f-- -off home!". After the shows he did an interview which shows what a nice, unassuming bloke he was.

Check out his chats on music with Alice Cooper, too, well worth an optic.

  • I saw him in Mpls a few years ago. Amazing.

What is your take on the Infectious Grooves?

  • Freaking awesome! Why do you ask?

You're a musician so I thought I would ask. Yep, freaking awesome. I don't know how they come up with that stuff. I'm late to the party by 20 years. Had Suicidal Tendencies How Will I Laugh since it came out but did not check anything else from them till 2 years ago. Suicidal is freaking awesome too.
    Many great musicians out there.

  • Dig! Yeah love ST which is what led me to IG. Obviously being a bassist, Rob is the shit!! Always loved Rocky George's guitar playing, underrated guitarist for sure. Saw ST a long time ago, Mike Muir came out after the show an signed a bunch of autographs, cool dude🤘🏼

  • There has been piles of great musicians in those two bands. Wow.

  • Yup, unfortunately Jeff wasn't one of them.
