When I practiced on a PRV driver, the cutting was easy, but I found the glue I used worked very well. I used Permatex Black Silicone because it's black, and swabbed on the backside of the cone to where it filled the slit. Then I used a tissue or napkin to remove the excess from the front.

I wonder if ribbed cones would react differently to this treatment.
Steel wool and speaker magnets are a bad combination.

One of my fire Marshall buddies showed us a trick where you take unfolded steel wool put it in a container with a D cell battery and shake...
Do they make Nichrome wool ?
