Marvin said it was an omni tweeter but there was some damping behind it to reduce the amount of rear wave. Unless I misunderstood him which is entirely possible given how I was feeling.
A very similar Ohm tophat that Leo Frank used some 10 years ago now did not have an omni tweeter. It was a direct tweeter and omni midbass. I'm sure there were different models of tophat that operated the way suggested by controlling radiation patterns as well.
This is one theme idea InDIYana has not had yet that I find quite interesting. After doing the Mindblowing Minisculities with the Goosebump woofer module, I was really surprised at how good that setup sounded. I've long thought about a Duevel Planets style 2way build, but have not done one yet. Either that style or inverting the midbass seems the most inviting. I know Dan Neubecker did quite a bit of experimentation with the concept and I'd like to develop my own take on something omni oriented.
The only bad thing about the Satori 5” is that notch at about 1.8k. The way it sounds does merit me to look though my pile for something different and measure.
It would be super cool if you could pull off something like this with regular DIY priced drivers (us darn DIY cheapskates). When I see the word "Satori" I think Yikes!
Hmmm? This thread has piqued my interest! Looking at all the drivers I have just sitting on my shelves collecting dust, and how cheap those Menards shelf boards are.... I might do some similar experimenting. I'll try it with way cheap drivers and go three way. Up firing Omni woofer, OB mid, and soft dome tweeter. Worse case I will waste < $15 worth of shelf board.

I agree that it feels like something is missing, same for the 7" too.
If motor noise is a concern you could go with a 3-way. if the mid was only working 200-2.5k then the motor movement would be limited but the Omni affects should remain the same. I built a modified version of the Linkwitz Pluto and was impressed with the results using a minidsp HD.

Yup
You didn't waste any time on that ohm walsh concept!!! Why isn't the tweet omni?
It isn't in the Walsh, either.

I htought the ohm was omni throughout - no idea as all I could see was the cage - didn't look it up. Will do so now.
There was felt pad like think surck on the cage though partway
Where did you cross them over?
Eitherway that upside down satori reminds me of this speaker
I believe this is what Marvins look like inside tweeter mounted on the magnet just like mine is.

Needs more cardboard
From what I’ve read, the tweeters are towed in about 30° tilted up like 7° but I only have one right now just to see if it’s even feasible

This is an open back Beast mode at around 2.1k. Just trying different things.

Brad , if you need some better pic's of mine for reference or what ever , hit me up.

Cool experiments for sure Brad.

Shit, I was thinking Illuminator.

3 way would be much simpler I think. The port noise on this one needs some attention.

Gears are turning... darn rabbit holes! lol
I had this running through my head also. I think there would be some great advantages to this design.

Your sketches look a lot like mine or maybe it's the other way around
Not that particular sketch regarding this project idea. Just our sketches in general.
So what if a guy were to use a ESS large AMT up top vs the conventional dome the OHM's came with?

They would be great. Uglywoofer made them sound terrific. There heavy and expensive would be there downfall.

Yes, that are usually listed as $250 each. But they often go on sale for $250 a PAIR which isn't outrageous.
That should work exceptionally well for this design
I think there is potential here too , Brad I know a guy with a pair of ESS
