Crossover alteration

Hey gang, long time no participation but, trust I have been creepin’. 😎. I hope you all have been doing well.

I built a charity BT radio and used Sehlin’s Lithium design. Due to time constraints and part availability I had to switch the 15ohm resistor to a 16ohm. How did this affect the crossover? Was just curious what I did by doing so.

Thanks!!

  • It will drop the tweeter level by a fraction of a dB. I don't think it will be noticeable.

  • That looks fantastic.

  • I'm with Scott. The extra pad will be a benefit anyway, due to these usually being free-placed and no nearby walls or such.
    Looks Great!

  • That looks cool Joey!

  • Looks like about 3/4-1db less output from the tweeter (I used the sample in x-sim). I think this will be fine and within the range of personal preference.
These look amazing how did you do the inlay?

  • Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. Glad to hear negligible and I didn’t notice anything “off” when listening and kind of thought that was what was going to happen in some fashion of less volume.

Ken, slowly. 🤣. I consider myself an archaic woodworker, I just try to use common sense and make sure i don’t screw it up. Anything “in” the material I drill a hole and use a small jigsaw blade in my jigsaw and rough cut. From here it is a multitude of tools, small woodcarving set, mini-file set, dremel, and even sometimes back to the jigsaw. And then just keep shaving and back cutting. It is a full thickness inlay. Cocobolo and padauk. Cutting the pipes in at that angle was a little tedious but got it mostly tight and clean. Here’s the back-

  • It looks exquisite, Joey - most excellent workmanship.

  • Mine don't look anywhere near that cool, though. B)

  • No pressure, but if you guys are interested, this is being raffled to raise money for my friend and fellow firefighter diagnosed with bladder cancer that has metastasized and is most likely not going to recover. If interested feel free to message me or I can post something here. This is 100% donation and 100% profit for the family.

Either way, just send them your good vibes.😎
