Tom , when working on your gear , do you have a goto source for mechanical parts ?
I haven't had to replace a pot...yet. For something like that, there are a few Ebay stores that look reputable. If you are on Audiokarma, you can post that you are looking for a specific piece and sometimes someone will have a spare to sell at a reasonable price.
I think that's a good value if it works. I had a Kenwood integrated amp from that era. It wasn't the best thing I ever heard, but was completely competent.
Keep an open mind, but don't let your brain fall out.
The only issue I know of with that series is the power switch. They're known to fail due to arcing of the contacts. Some Pioneers have the same problem. It's probably the same Alps switch. There are some fixes for that issue, but it's fiddly work. I had a similar KR series receiver years ago. I fixed the power switch and sold it. There is a reason the Kenwood's are not commanding the same dollars as some other brands. They are just a slight step below Pioneer and Marantz when it comes to build quality. But you only really notice that if you have to repair one. I've always thought they look really nice.

I’m still looking for the SX1980 at garage sales if anyone spots one.😉
