If you check the MAC archive of event pictures for the MWAF, you will see that I sometimes have pictures of the winners in each category. Look toward the end of the list of archived pictures for each event.
Last year, I took 3rd place in the Dayton category with the Zonker speakers.
Dayton
1 Nick S. "Napoleons and the cavalry" (ND16, ND65, (2) DC160 (isobarik)
2 Michael H. "Bella Sonus 5"
3 Bill S. "The Zonkers" RST28F-4's (golden versions), Dayton SD215A-88 subwoofers (isobarik).
In previous years, I took 2nd place in the Dayton category with the Linehoppers (2015) and the Kowaxial speakers (2018)
MWAF 2022:
Dayton Category:
1) Tom Z. "The Bantams" SP45 (ND91-4, AMTPOD-4, Peerless 830878 3.5" PR)
2) John H. "Mini LX521" SP08 (ND20FB, RS100P, (2) ND91's)
3) Keith E. "The Plum Dingers" SP41 (ND20FB-4, (2) PS95-8)
1st place: SP37 "RSX" by Chris B. (Dynamo) (Top: RS270P/DIY coax ND28 -- Lower: 2nd RS270P woofer)
2nd place: SP39 "C-Cake" by John H. (Dayton ND25, AMT3-4, RS180P-4)
3rd place: SP14 "Troy-Maple Notes" by Barrett N. (Looks like Dayton PS180-8 full range & Dayton 10" sub)
Dayton Category:
1) Tom Z. "The Esoteries" (RS28F-4 tweeters, (2) Esoteric ES140TiA-8 woofers)
2) John H. "Udique XL" (RS28A-4, RS150T-8 (2))
3) Kole K. "The Black Widows" (Also Fan Favorite Winner) (ND25FN-4, DSA135-8 (2))
I'm not entering anything or going but I am curious... has anyone reached out to PE and inquired if they consider their own GRS brand planars and neo ribbon tweeters "Dayton" drivers? If yes and they are allowed in the Dayton only category that would really open up the possibities and make the category more interesting than just another build with the meh RST28.
Dayton Category:
1) Tom Z. "DN-10's (ND28F-6, ND105-4, SD270-PR)
2) Kevin K. "The Archers" (AMT Mini-8, RS100P-4)
3) John H. "Vultus" (ND20FB, AMT 3-4, RS180-8)
Dayton Category:
1) Paul K. "Clarino" (NLA Dayton Esoteric tweeter and dual 7" Esoteric woofers)
2) Bill S. "Linehopper" (NLA Dayton Esoteric tweeter and 7" Esoteric woofer)
3) Dan P. "The Boxers" (Dayton RS28F-4, RSS210HO-4)
It's probably been long enough.... this was the original shoot for the catalog cover, but was deemed "to racey" so ta speak. I think it was cool as shit they found a dress for the model that matched my speakers. This picture has the Porsche GT3 Photoshopped in that inspired the build.

Obvious is RST28 tweeter, 2" mid dome, 8" reference. Still might try that, but don't really want to do it if it has been beat to death.

I have no idea as to whether PE would allow GRS drivers in the Dayton category, but in researching all the winning speakers for this thread, I found at least two cases where other drivers were allowed. So it might be the case that if your speaker uses multiple drivers, only ONE of the drivers needs to be a Dayton driver. But this is just a guess on my part. EDIT: I just re-read the current definitions, which clearly say that the design must use all Dayton drivers. So maybe there was a rule change from years ago that I forgot about.
There was a change to all drivers from one driver at some point for the Dayton class. I would think they SHOULD include the GRS drivers, IMO, and a query to Jill would likely solve the issue. I'll see what she says...
Dave(s), the Black Box by Tony Gee was the closest to as you suggest to using the drivers in your list. Back then it was the former RS28 though; RS28A/RS52AN/RS270.
That said, I feel the RS woofers are the strong point there. I don't care for the RS52AN at all (and there are QC issues) the textile IMO is better and more tolerable, but still not great. I'm not really a fan of the RST tweeters either.
If you are targeting a Dayton build of that style, the AMT HR-4 paired with DMA105-4 as midrange, and RSS265-4 would be a good direction methinks.
I found and added some more driver detail to my previous posts above. The only one I could not find was the "Bella Sonus 5" by Michael H. I think he has a write up on this speaker over on the Facebook project pad, but I could not find it. I also do not know the winners prior to 2013. Maybe @Wolf can remember some of those.

Thanks for posting all the past winners, your search skills > my search skills.
In going through all the speaker pictures from MWAF since 2013, I could only find one speaker that used the RS52 dome midrange. And it was not combined with the RS28F. This was from MWAF 2022. The speaker was called "T3-0 Omnipresence" by Julian F. It took 2nd place in Open Unlimited. It used the Peerless 25mm corundom dome tweeter, RS52 mid, and a side firing RS series 8" woofer. Not sure if it was the fabric (FN) or aluminum (AN) dome version.
I used the fabric version, the RS52FN-8, in my MWAF 2022 entry. The Active Acoustics were in the Open Unlimited using the DSP-408 box for crossover duties. Tweeter was a Peerless by Tymphany XT25TG30-04 1” Dual Ring Radiator. Woofer was a ported Dayton Audio DS215-8 tuned to ~50 Hz. Maple front baffle and the remainder cherry.
The only time I have heard a speaker using the RST28F/RS52FN fabric dome combo was at InDIYana 2018. It was an all Dayton tower speaker called "Tundra". These were designed by Chris P., Matt P., and Geoff S. Lower midrange looked like a DS175-8. The side firing woofer looked like a DS270-8. This was a 4 way active system powered by 4 separate amplifiers and a Dayton DSP-408 4x8 DSP Digital Signal Processor. Here are a few pics:

+1 on the RS52AN - very disappointing IME.
Go anti-aluminum...
RST28F, RS52FN, RS225P
By the way, I think Bill S. may be just copying and pasting the winners list... almost every one has some guy named JohnH
Usually the first loser too

Pretty sure they were RS180-4, wired in series. (There is not an RS170 model.)
