When doing cabinets this way, it works very well to lay out the 4 boards knife edge to knife edge, then apply tape to the seams while the panels are laid flat. Then you can "roll up" the panels into each other after applying glue. The brace can be added into the loose dado prior to rolling the panels like some guac in a burrito 😁

Lay panels flat with tape on mitres, set in brace, and wrap sides around the brace.
