oops sry. If the tweets can go 2khz or below then the MAC05 might be a decent contender. The fat smooth trunk of -50db distortion below 2k is pretty formidable. And sofar the builds I've heard with it have been adorable to my ears (@a4eaudio I frigin love that little grey 2way!). But I bet the other guys have a better idea then me.
Had to pick up a new battery for the XJ today , the two year old megatron interstates, after two years, wouldnt take a charge, even after cooking it for a day on the charger. I ended up getting a duracell "ultra" 690 CCA this morning hoping this one will last longer , 210 bucks! What brand have you guys used that have lasted longer than two or three years? P.S. I do not run any accessories or stereo system in this vehicle.
Not a Deal of the Day, but Sweetwater has the Behringer ECM8000 microphone for $19.90 + free shipping. (Not currently in Stock, but you can still order it. I did this a few years ago when they were listed for $29 and temporarily out of stock.) Note, this mic does NOT have a calibration file, but you could have someone with a calibrated mic make one for you (either shipping it back and forth or lending it to them if they are local). Anyways, just mentioning it, because anyone thinking of switching to an XLR mic, this is ridiculously cheap.
More stuff on sale at Madisound as of the 18th. New stuff is still fairly pricey, except for the Silver Flute woofer. The Satori coax is the one that caught my eye though...I have a thing for coaxes.
How do you deal with the tweeter dip at 9k - hte 30deg response looks beeter - no shapr dip? Also the tweeter FS is 1200 - can it be crossed at 2.5k as the woofer is already starting it's break up - maybe push to 2.8-3k?
Haven't worked with coax - are there slightly different expectation regarding rule of thumb / XO points?
As with most, there's compromises. Might have to comp the tweet FS, listen a little off axis, keep the woofer breakup in check.
It's kinda like looking at AMT responses, they sometimes look wonky, but in reality, sound fine. You can't always get all caught up in the squiggly lines.
That 9k dip is most likely a cancelation artifact and will be gone in the listening position. I wouldn't worry about it.
You get to decide what sounds better a stressed tweeter or cone breakup. Seeing how efficient those drivers are you will probably have plenty of output before it is problematic.

I would probably design for the best overall compromise when listening at about 30 degrees off-axis (both speakers facing straight forward, not toed in to the listening position). Before starting the design, I'd probably do a complete set of polar measurements on my personal baffle board to verify the curves and generate average power response sims. Remember, these curves were generated with the driver mounted on a large IEC baffle and a smaller baffle with roundovers will significantly impact the diffraction signature.
Not all coaxes are created equal.
Keith Etheredge had his Celestion coaxes with rear tacked on through horns. They sounded better straight forward.
My Monoculus sounds better toed in like normal.
Mofi 888 sound better with toe in to me.
Drivers, summation, etc matter in these instances.

Maybe we should start a thread ‘what speaker design/ set-up would you have in your living room sans WAF ???’

That was the TN25 too....

Sounds like a good Idea. However I cannot participate because I have a man cave.
I cannot find distortion measurements for the 15w/4434g
https://www.dibirama.it/home-page/mid-woofer/284-scan-speak-15w-4434g00-mid-woofer-5-4-ohm-120-wmax.html
It isn't the most detailed distortion measurement but it does show that it is smooth without any major issues above 200 Hz
Thanks. I was hoping to see if or where 3rd ord is dominant but you don't always get what you want.
3rd Order sounds odd to me. Get it?
(Throws egg) Groan....

That bears a LOT of resemblance to my 3X100. Also FS, BTW.

My cart at Madi is overflowing. PE isn't much better. Someone send help?
That Satori coax is freaking gorgeous😍

Something doesn't look right ...
Its held together through the pole piece and I agree - it looks totally wrong.
